Caulk Paintable Latex Siliconized - Clear - ASI
ASI 174 Siliconized Acrylic Latex is based on a 100% acrylic emulsion. ASI 174 is further modified with special additives to optimize resistance to oxidation, UV degradation and cold temperature. When cured, a tough, durable, waterproof acrylic sealant is formed with an optimal life expectancy. ASI 174 Siliconized Acrylic Latex cures quickly to form a strong, flexible and water tight seal that does not shrink like other latex based caulks. ASI 174 bonds to all common building materials and is flexible enough to be used on moving and non moving joints. This makes ASI 174 ideal for various applications where movement could occur overtime. ASI 174 will also expand and contract with paint which allows it to be a paintable.

COMPOSITION AND MATERIALS
ASI 174 Siliconized Acrylic Latex is based on a 100% acrylic emulsion. ASI Siliconized Acrylic Latex is further modified with special additives to optimize resistance to oxidation, UV degradation and cold temperature. Upon evaporation of water, a tough durable acrylic sealant with a 25-year life expectancy is formed.
PACKAGING
ASI Siliconized Acrylic Latex is supplied in (10.2 fl. oz.) cartridges, (5.5 fl. oz.) squeeze tubes, (5 gallon) pail, (55 gallon) drum.
LIMITATIONS
- Do not apply below 40oF
- Do not apply where joint will be subject to heavy rainfall within 8 hours of application
- Do not use in joint subject to extended water immersion
- Do not use in traffic bearing surfaces.
INSTALLATION
Joint Designs: Minimum recom-mended joint size is ¼” x ¼”. Maximum joint size should be ½”
SURFACE PREPARATION
Surface should be clean and dry. Do not use solvents to clean joints unless surface can dry thoroughly before application of sealant.
JOINT BACKING
Joint depth should not exceed ½”. A foam backer rod is suggested to control depth. Do not use bitumen impregnated backing material. In shallow joint a bond breaker tape should be installed to prevent three-point contact.
APPLICATION AND TOOL
Apply with conventional caulking equipment, filling joints, completely. Upon application of ASI 174 Siliconzied Acrylic Latex Adhesive the sealant bead will appear white (clear only). Depending on the atmospheric conditions condition the sealant bead will turn clear in about 7 days. For tooling ease, keep tools moist with soapy water.
PAINTING
Paint with latex or oil base paint at least one hour after sealant in tack free.
CLEANING
Remove 174 Siliconized Acrylic Latex Adhesive from equipment before it dries. Wash with soap water.
